Applications
The main application of nickel is used for producing stainless steel, heat resistance steel and then for producing structural alloy steel and alloy cast iron. In iron and steel industries, some metallic nickel has been taken place by ferronickel.
It has been used as alloy element additive in steel making industries which can improve the bending strength and hardness of the steel. In iron foundry, it can make the structure uniform and improve the density. It can also be added as addition agent for nickel or nickel – chromium contained roller or other cast alloy. With the development of process technology for steelmaking and iron casting, nickel oxide will also replace some metallic nickel in special steel and alloy cast iron.
